DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE RIGHT MIX OF TRAINING SESSIONS FOR AN ULTRA TRAILER?

Training properly for trail running means having a precise project that takes into account the time of the year, the athlete’s characteristics, level and goals. In in the absence of these elements it will not be possible to develop specific athletic qualities, improve performance and maintain a good physical condition. Find below and example of a balanced training mix for an ultra trail runner during the preparatory period:

– 70% ENDURANCE (<80% of FC Max),

– 15% ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD (duration at max intensity 20′-1h),

– 10% VO2 MAX (duration at max intensity 3′-10′),

– 5% SESSIONS with high INTENSITY workouts, very short, dedicated to POWER and SPEED (duration at max intensity <2 ‘).

Each training mix to work must obviously provide a careful choice of the type of sessions to be performed, the duration and repetitiveness that imply both a knowledge of the discipline of trail running and of the training methods plus an exchange between the athlete and the coach.
